Where has the year gone?
November 23, 2015
I can’t believe I haven’t written a blog post since July. So many wonderful things have been happening here that time has flown by! It’s hard to believe 2015 is coming to an end. This year has been wonderful at the library. We’ve expanded our programming and have been very pleased with the your positive response. October was our busiest month this year and the numbers have proven it. We had almost 4,000 people attend our programs that month which is a new record for the library. Thank you to each and every one of you who participated for supporting our efforts.
December is going to be another busy month. We have so many fun activities planned. On December 3 we are hosting the Festival of Trees Open House. This is the second year we’ve hosted the festival and hope to make it an annual tradition. All of the book-themed trees were created by Lawrence County students. We encourage you to come to the library and vote for your favorite. We’re awarding $200 to the students whose tree receives the most votes. We also silent auction the trees and all of the proceeds go directly to the students. There are some very creative trees this year. The Open House will take place from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 3. In addition to voting for your favorite tree(s) we’ll have holiday crafts, hot chocolate to-go, and best of all Elsa from Frozen will be here! She’ll be posing for pictures as well as painting faces. All of these activities are FREE! The Louisa Christmas Parade begins at 7:00 p.m. that evening, so after you’ve met Elsa and made your craft, you can take your hot chocolate and head to Main Street. We have many other activities planned for December. Be sure to check our Events Calendar for the most up-to-date information.
Thank you for helping us with another successful year! If you have suggestions for programming, books, etc. please contact us. After all, we are YOUR public library.
