Board Trustee Vacancy

The LCPL Board of Trustees accepts applications for trustee vacancies. Trustees are volunteer public officials with powers delegated to them as a public trust. Duties include fulfilling legal responsibilities established by statute as well as approving policies, budgets, and strategic plans. Trustees must be legal residents of Lawrence County and be available to attend board meetings on the second Monday of the month at 12:00 p.m. Trustees should be willing to advocate for the library and intellectual freedom.

Per Kentucky statute, the library submits trustee applicants to the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA). In turn, KDLA vets and submits applications to the Lawrence County Judge Executive in office. Trustees are appointed by the County Judge Executive and may or may not be appointed from applicants, according to statute. Additional information regarding Kentucky library boards is available HERE.
