The Lawrence County Public Library (LCPL) Genealogy Department has completed an extensive digitization and archival project of the Big Sandy News. The Library is now the only organization housing the complete digital collection of the Big Sandy News from 1885 to current. Earlier dates of the newspaper (1885 – 1922) were digitized by the Library of Congress Chronicling America project. The LCPL converted the Library’s microfilm collection to digital as well as all remaining hard copies of the newspaper to both microfilm and digital to archive issues for the years 1920 – 2022. The library will update the digital collection annually.
