The Lawrence County Public Library Genealogy Collection is beginning work on a Lawrence County History Cookbook.
Every family has recipes that have passed down from one generation to the next, and these recipes can be important to family histories. They show us how people cooked in in times when they were lacking, like the Great Depression. Other recipes may have come over when our ancestors migrated from Europe.
Each recipe in the cookbook will be attributed to the person that the recipe was known for. The person needs to be relevant to Lawrence County. Was your grandmother from Blaine known for her Texas sheet cake? Did your uncle from Fallsburg make a meatloaf everyone in the family loved? THOSE are the recipes that we want.
We’re creating a digital cookbook that can be easily updated and added to as needed. These recipes will be able to be accessed for free through our website for years to come!
